Planned Hospital Attack – level 3
31-03-2020 07:00
The FBI says that it has prevented a suspected terrorist attack against a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. On Tuesday, the FBI attempted to arrest a 36-year-old man, who was armed.
The man was injured while the FBI was trying to arrest him. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The FBI was investigating the man for domestic terrorism for months. He was found a potentially violent extremist, who had racial, religious, and anti-government motives.
Officials say that the man planned to use an improvised explosive device at an area hospital in an attempt to cause mass casualties. He considered several targets before he decided to attack a facility that is providing critical medical care in today’s environment.
Difficult words: motive (a reason for doing something), improvised (without previous preparation), mass casualties (when a lot of people die in a single incident).
