Journey to Mecca – level 1

Mecca is the most religious place for Muslims. It is in Saudi Arabia. Every year, many Muslims come to Mecca. Hajj is a special journey to Mecca. Every healthy Muslim must make the journey once in his life. It is the rule of Islam.

Every year, 2 million people come to Mecca. People come from Saudi Arabia and from other countries, too. The idea is that Muslims clean their souls in Mecca.

Now, the coronavirus is in Saudi Arabia. The country has strict rules. Only 10,000 people can come to Mecca. People from abroad cannot come to Mecca.

This never happens before. People in Saudi Arabia must wear face masks. Tourists must not come to the country.

Difficult words: religious (connected to a god), Muslim (a person who follows Islam), soul (a person’s mind and feelings).
