Fight for Alaska Oil – level 1

The US government wants to make money from oil in Alaska. Between 4 and 11 billion barrels of crude oil are in Alaska.

The US president, Donald Trump, wants to make a deal with oil companies. But he does not have much time. Donald Trump will end his job soon. Joe Biden will become the new president. He does not want to make oil business in Alaska. He wants to protect it. Alaska is one of the last really wild US places. Many special animals live there, for example polar bears and reindeer.

If Trump makes the deal, the situation will be difficult for Biden. It will not be easy to stop the deal.

Difficult words: crude oil (the natural oil as it comes from the ground), protect (to keep something safe), wild (without people’s activity).
