The US state of Texas has a new law. It is an abortion law. An abortion is when a doctor ends a baby for a pregnant woman.

Sometimes the baby is very ill. Sometimes it is dangerous for the woman. Many people believe that every woman can decide if she wants a baby or not.

People protest in Texas. They do not like the new law. The law says it is not possible to do an abortion if the woman is more than six weeks pregnant. Six weeks pregnant is very early. Many women do not even know that they are pregnant.

Everyone can sue abortion clinics. People can get more than 10,000 dollars if they win. Some people take pictures of women before abortion clinics. They want the money.

The US president Joe Biden says that he wants to change the law.

Difficult words: pregnant (when a woman has a baby in the body), sue (to start a legal case against somebody to try to get money), abortion clinic (a place where a doctor does abortions).
