Singer Meat Loaf dies – level 2

Rock singer Meat Loaf died last week at the age of 74.
The singer’s real name was Marvin Lee Aday, and he was born in Dallas, US. Meat Loaf was his nickname which he got from his father. His father said that Marvin was as red as meat when he was born. The word ‘loaf’ came from Marvin’s football coach.
Meat Loaf had a special voice, which was very different from other singers. A school offered him to study opera, but he did not do it. His dramatic voice was perfect for opera, but the singer said that he was too wild for that kind of music.
Meat Loaf was very popular in the 1990s, and he got a Grammy Award for one of his biggest hits ‘I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That). His album ‘Bat Out of Hell’ belonged to the top 10 best-selling albums ever, and the singer sold 100 million albums in all the world.
Difficult words: nickname (a funny name which a person uses instead of his real name), loaf (a big rounded piece of bread or meat), dramatic (strong and surprising).
