Elizabeth Holmes is American. She starts a company in 2003. The name of the company is Theranos.
The company makes special blood tests. The tests need very little blood. They can find many diseases. The tests are new and exciting. People say that Holmes is the new Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs starts the company Apple.
Holmes gets 700 million dollars from investors. They believe her. They give her money. She becomes a billionaire.
In 2015, scientists and journalists believe that the tests are not good. They don’t believe in the technology. Now people know that Holmes doesn’t tell the truth. She only wants money. She will go to court. She can spend up to 80 years in prison.
Difficult words: blood (the red liquid inside a body), investor (a person or organization who puts money into something), billionaire (someone who has more than a billion dollars, euros, and so on).
