Wimbledon bans Russian and Belarusian tennis players – level 3

The Grand Slam’s organizers said that it wouldn’t allow tennis players from Russia and Belarus to compete at this year’s Wimbledon due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The organizers stated that in the circumstances of unjustified and unprecedented military aggression, it would be unacceptable for the Russian regime to derive any benefits from the Championships.
As a result, Daniel Medvedev won’t be able to compete on the famous grass courts. He is the men’s world number two, Russian, and the reigning champion of the US Open. Along with Medvedev, the men’s world number eight, Andrey Rublev, will miss out, as well as women’s world number four Aryna Sabalenka and two times Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka of Belarus.
Wimbledon banned athletes after World War II for players from Germany and Japan.
