Soccer team wins important award – level 2

02-08-2022 07:00

Since 2018, South Africa’s women’s soccer team was a runner-up five times at the African women’s soccer competition. This year, the team won its first award against Morocco after one player scored two times in eight minutes.

The win also allowed the team to go to the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Another player said that she was happy to celebrate with South Africans who recently had many problems.

Hundreds of excited fans met the soccer players as they arrived to celebrate their historic win with the president. The president said that the team promised to bring the award title and they had done it.

Difficult words: runner-up (a player or a team who does not win an award), competition (a game to learn who is the best player or team), World Cup (the soccer competition for all soccer teams in the world).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
