Weather and tea – level 1

Weather is more extreme in many parts of the world. Farmers have many problems. Tea farmers in India worry. It rains too much in June. The rain damages plants. Workers can’t pick tea leaves in the rain.
More problems come in July. The weather is too hot. Temperatures reach 39 degrees Celsius. Insects live well in the rain and the heat. They damage some plants.
The work to grow tea is very difficult. Good weather is important. This year’s weather is very bad for tea plants. Farmers lose many crops.
Difficult words: extreme (very unusual), damage (harm), crops (plants which farmers grow).
