On November 18, 2022, North Korea tested its largest intercontinental rocket. Leader Kim Jong Un said that he wanted to make North Korea the world’s most powerful country.

Pictures showed him with scientists, engineers, and soldiers. His daughter was at the test, too, and many people speculated that she could become North Korea’s next leader.

The rocket is called Hwasong-17, and it can reach the United States. The test alarmed US officials, who wanted to call for a meeting with the UN.

Kim said that he wanted to protect North Korea and its people. He said that with the rocket, the country would become stronger than ever before.

Difficult words: intercontinental (between continents), speculate (to speak about something without having enough information about it), alarm (to make someone feel frightened).
