Maui wildfires – level 1
17-08-2023 07:00
A very big fire happens in Lahaina, Hawaii. It is a town on the pretty island of Maui.
Sadly, as many as 93 people lose their lives. This is the worst disaster in Hawaii since 1959 when Hawaii becomes a state. The fire destroys many buildings in different places. Three fires start on the island at the same time. The fire in Lahaina is the worst one. No one knows why this happens. Authorities are working hard to solve the situation. People want to help and build the town again.
Difficult words: disaster (a very bad event), destroy (to ruin a building or structure so that it does not exist anymore).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What actions are being taken by authorities to prevent similar disasters from occurring in the future?
