A man is safe after 12 days in a cave – level 2
15-09-2023 07:00
A skilled caver Mark Dickey got into trouble in Morca Cave, Turkey, after he fell seriously ill during a mission. He started to throw up blood, and he thought that he would not get out alive.
The cave is 1,276 meters deep and there are many shafts and narrow paths. Cold temperatures also made the rescue more complicated. The rescue effort included more than 200 people from several countries, who, in the end, saved Mark after 12 days.
Mark thanked the Turkish government for a quick reaction, which he believed saved his life. His parents also thanked the rescue teams and the Turkish government.
Difficult words: caver (a person who walks and climbs in caves), throw up (when things from the stomach come out from the mouth), shaft (a long narrow hole).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What challenges did the rescue teams face during Mark's rescue efforts?
