This story starts six years ago. A British boy called Alex Batty leaves his mother and grandfather. This happens after Alex’s mother decides to move to Finland.

Alex travels across the Pyrenees. It is a long and dangerous journey. Alex finds food in the fields. He spends two years with spiritual people in Spain, Morocco, and France. Alex meets a driver in France. He tells him about his situation. He has only 100 euros and a skateboard.

Alex is 17 years old now. Alex will meet with his grandmother. She is his legal guardian. Officials do not know where Alex’s mother is now. Officials believe that his grandfather is dead now.

Difficult words: spiritual (relating to what you feel and believe in), guardian (a person who looks after someone else).
