Israel threatened to leave Eurovision if organizers censored its entry. The song ‘October Rain’ by Eden Golan reportedly refers to the Gaza conflict.

Eurovision rules prohibit political messages in songs. Eurovision’s organizer, the EBU, is currently checking the song’s lyrics. The lyrics include things like ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ and ‘Flowers’ which is a word that soldiers use when they speak about killed people.

Similar incidents already happened in the past and countries faced disqualification for political lyrics. Israel keeps saying that the song is okay and there is no reason for disqualification.

Difficult words: censor (to check if books, films, or songs do not include political or dangerous things), prohibit (to not allow something), disqualification (when someone must leave a competition because he or she doesn’t follow rules).
