Gold is expensive – level 3
02-02-2026 07:00
Gold prices reach record levels above 5,000 dollars per ounce. Many people move their money into gold because they feel worried about political and economic problems in the world.
Silver and platinum prices also rise at the same time. Precious metals feel safer to many investors than paper money during times of uncertainty.
Central banks play a big role in this rise, because they change how they store their money and depend less on the US dollar. Trade tensions also increase fear. The US government talks about very high taxes on goods from other countries. These messages cause worry about future trade and push more investors toward gold.
Another reason comes from possible lower interest rates in the United States. When rates fall, gold becomes more attractive than money in banks. In the past, gold prices rise during crises, but this increase feels different. The price grows more than ninety percent in just over one year, which makes this moment unusual in history.
Difficult words: precious (very valuable and special), tension (a feeling of worry or stress), crisis (a very bad and difficult situation).
