OpenAI changes the deal with the Pentagon – level 2

10-03-2026 15:00

The US government had a problem with the AI company Anthropic because it didn’t want the military to have full access to its AI technology. Because of this problem, the government stopped working with Anthropic.

Soon after, another company, OpenAI, made a deal with the Pentagon. Many people criticized this deal and said the company acted too quickly. OpenAI’s leader, Sam Altman, later said the company would change parts of the deal and add more safety rules.

Many technology companies now compete to work with the US military. They develop new tools such as smart drones. Some experts say AI will play a big role in future wars, but other people worry about risks.

Difficult words: access (the right to use or enter something), criticize (to say that something is wrong or not good), safety (being safe from danger or harm).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What modifications did Sam Altman say he would make to OpenAI’s deal with the Pentagon?
