A man helps pigeons – level 2

06-04-2026 07:00

In New York City, a man named Michael Cavaliere helps injured pigeons. Many people don’t like pigeons, but Michael thinks they are special.

The birds often get human hair or string caught around their feet. This is very dangerous because it can cut their skin or make them lose their toes. Michael catches the birds and cuts the string. If the injury is small, the bird can fly away immediately. If the injury is bad, he takes the bird to a vet. Michael says that life in the city is very hard for birds because of cars and pollution. He wants to help them because they are small and cannot help themselves.

Difficult words: string (a long, thin piece of material used for tying things together), immediately (right now), pollution (dirty water, land, or air).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

How does Michael treat a pigeon with a small injury compared to one with a serious injury?
