Kanye West cannot get into the UK – level 3
10-04-2026 07:00
The Wireless music festival in London has been cancelled after the UK government blocked American rapper Kanye West from entering the country.
The festival’s organiser, Festival Republic, announced that all ticket holders will receive refunds.
The government made this decision because of West’s past comments supporting Nazism and his anti-semitic remarks. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the artist should never have been invited to lead the festival. Many major companies also stopped supporting the event after West was named as the headline act. In the past, West has faced similar bans in other countries like Australia. Although the rapper recently apologized in a newspaper and blamed his behavior on health issues, the UK government didn’t change its mind.
West offered to meet with Jewish groups in London to show he had changed, but he was still denied entry. People have different opinions on the news; some believe the government was right to stop him, while others think artists should be allowed to speak freely.
Difficult words: anti-semitic (behavior or speech that is cruel or unfair to Jewish people), headline act (the most famous singer or band at a festival who performs last), deny (to say no to something or to not allow someone to have what they want).

What justification did Kanye West offer for his past remarks when he issued his recent apology in a newspaper?
