Fake: A stolen painting in Zelenskyy’s office – level 2

28-04-2026 15:00

Some people on the internet said that President Zelenskyy has a stolen painting in his office. They shared a video which looked like a real news report.

The video showed a famous painting by Paul Cézanne on the wall. This painting was stolen from a museum in Italy in March. But scientists and news experts found that the story is not true. The video is fake. Someone used a computer and AI to make a fake voice and change the images. In the real video, the painting is different. A Ukrainian artist said the real painting is his work. It shows a beautiful mountain in Crimea. He gave the painting to the president as a gift.

This fake story is part of a plan to spread lies about Ukraine. These plans use fake accounts to make people believe bad things. It is not the first time this happened. We must be very careful when we see news online and always check if the video is real.

Difficult words: stolen (something what a thief takes), fake (not real), spread (to move or reach more people or places).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What methods were used to create the fake video showing a Cézanne painting in the president’s office?
