Europe has some of the best tap water in the world. Countries like Finland and Norway have very clean water. But in other places, the water under the ground is getting dirty.
This happens because of chemicals from farms and big factories. In the Czech Republic and Luxembourg, more than half of the underground water is not good. It costs a lot of money to clean this water. Countries spend a lot of money to make it safe for us to drink.
Nowadays, small pieces of plastic and old medicines are also in the water. The European Union is watching this closely. The water which we drink must be safe for everyone.
Difficult words: tap water (water in our houses), dirty (not clean), underground water (water which is deep under our feet).
