A robot monk is the newest member of a famous temple in South Korea. The robot’s name is Gabi, and it is a humanoid, which means it looks a bit like a person.

During a ceremony, Gabi promised to follow special rules. These rules say that Gabi must be kind, must not lie, and must not overcharge its battery. The leaders of the temple did this because fewer young people in South Korea are interested in Buddhism. They want to show that religion can be modern and fun.

Gabi will now help during a big festival for Buddha’s birthday. While Gabi is just a machine, the monks believe that robots are becoming part of our community, and we should teach them how to be good and respectful to people.

Difficult words: monk (a religious man), temple (a building where people talk to god), respectful (polite and showing care).
