Macron tells people to be quiet – level 2
20-05-2026 07:00
French President Emmanuel Macron stopped a meeting at a big summit in Kenya because the audience was making too much noise.
While people on stage were trying to give their speeches, the crowd was talking loudly. Macron got up and told the audience that their talking showed no respect for the speakers. He told the noisy people that if they wanted to talk to each other, they should leave the room or go outside. He said that everyone inside must follow the rules and listen.
Macron was visiting Kenya for the Africa Forward Summit, where many African leaders and businesspeople met to help France build better connections with African countries.
Difficult words: audience (a large group of people who are in one place, for example, to watch a show), crowd (a large group of people), connection (a link between people, countries, or ideas).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What did Macron ask the noisy audience members to do if they wanted to continue talking during the speeches?
