Vitamin patches – level 2
26-05-2026 07:00
Taking vitamins is changing because of a new trend: patches, which you put on your skin.
A company named Barriére makes these patches and plans to make 10 million dollars in 2026. They are growing fast because a big supermarket chain decided to sell their products in 1,700 stores. Young people love these patches because they look cool on social media like TikTok, and they don’t like swallowing pills. When you put the patch on your skin, your body heat helps the vitamins go directly into your blood. Barriére also made the first patch in the world to help people who have problems with milk products.
Some doctors say there is not enough scientific proof that these patches work as well as normal vitamins. In the US, the government doesn’t test vitamins before they go to shops, so Barriére tests its products in special independent laboratories to show they are safe.
Difficult words: patch (a small piece of material which you stick onto your skin), swallow (to put something in your mouth and make it go down into your stomach), proof (information which shows that something is true).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What concern do some doctors have about Barriére’s vitamin patches?
