Team Qatar at Le Mans – level 3

27-05-2026 07:00

Team Qatar is getting ready for its historic debut at the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in France that takes place on June 13 and 14, 2026. This is the first time Qatar will be represented at this prestigious event.

The team will compete in the LMGT3 category and drive a Mercedes-AMG car with the race number 62. This entry is a result of a partnership between the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and the Italian racing team Iron Lynx. For 35-year-old Abdulla Al Khelaifi, the moment is deeply personal as he will become the first-ever Qatari driver to compete in the race. He is joined by German driver Julian Hanses and French driver Giuliano Alesi, who is the son of former Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi.

Le Mans requires intense physical and mental preparation, including gym workouts, cycling, and special hydration plans to handle the extreme heat inside the car and the challenges of driving at night. QMMF president stated that this project has been years in the making, with the goal of developing local racing talent and bringing a trophy home to Qatar.

Difficult words: debut (a person’s first appearance or performance in a particular role or event), prestigious (having high status and quality), hydration (making your body absorb enough water to stay healthy).
