FIFA must explain World Cup ticket prices – level 2
03-06-2026 07:00
Just two weeks before the World Cup starts, the government in New York and New Jersey is investigating FIFA.
Officials say FIFA used a very confusing system to sell tickets, which made prices too high. They also say that FIFA lied to fans. Many football fans are angry because they paid a lot of money but got bad seats far from the field or behind the goals. Some tickets cost more than 2,000 dollars, so families cannot afford to go.
Fans say FIFA promised a big, happy event for everyone, but now it is only for rich people. FIFA does not want to talk about these problems. Fans think the organization just wants to make a lot of money from American people instead of helping young supporters see the games.
Difficult words: investigate (to look at all the facts to find the truth about something), confusing (difficult to understand), afford (to have enough money to buy or pay for something).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What reasons do fans give for being angry about FIFA's ticket sales?
