Scientists find something important near Stonehenge – level 2
26-06-2026 07:00
Scientists found an older and simpler version of Stonehenge just five kilometers away from the famous monument.
This new site is 5,000 years old, which means it is 500 years older than Stonehenge. Today, only two big holes are left in the ground. Archaeologists say these holes held tall wooden posts a long time ago. The wood is gone now, but scientists proved that the posts lined up perfectly with the sun during the longest and shortest days of the year. Workers also found ancient objects at the site, such as beautiful pots, stone tools, and animal bones. These things show that early farmers gathered there to celebrate the seasons.
The discovery is very exciting because it helps us understand how these ancient people lived, worked, and looked at the sky.
Difficult words: version (a form of something a little different from other forms of the same thing), prove (to show that something is true by using facts, science, or information), ancient (from thousands of years ago).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What do the pots, stone tools, and animal bones found at the site suggest about how early farmers used the place?
