Missed a plane and lived – level 2
28-07-2014 07:00
A plane flew from the Netherlands to Malaysia. It carried 298 passengers when it lost contact.
People reportedly shot the plane down down because it flew over a dangerous area. The area is near Ukraine’s border with Russia, and it is held by rebels. The rebels fight to unite Eastern Ukraine with Russia.
Nobody on the plane survived. However, one Scottish woman and her family are really lucky. They missed the flight and saved their lives. The woman spoke to the press. She shook and she didn’t know what to do. However, she said that she feels like something gave her a second chance.
Difficult words: reportedly (according to what some people say), rebel (person against a government), unite (become one), press (people who write for newspapers, radio or television).
You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
