Firefighters save a dog – level 2
29-07-2014 15:00
A fire broke out last Monday in Santiago de Chile. The fire started on the 12th floor of an old building.
A dog was one of the victims. Firefighters found it unconscious in one of the burning flats. It was unconscious because of the smoke. Medics helped the dog with an oxygen mask.
The dog suffered a few burns, but doctors treated him and he is now with his family. He is getting better and better. The firefighters put the fire under control in 2.5 hours.
Difficult words: break out (start), victim (somebody or someone who experiences an accident), unconscious (not able to see, move or feel), under control (stop or contain a fire).
You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
Many people feel more sorry for a hurt animal than for a hurt man. Why do you think that is?
