Benches made from fallen trees – level 2
16-04-2015 07:00
Storms knocked over more than 1,700 trees in Sao Paolo, and the city government wasn’t sure what to do with the wood strewn everywhere. So the government asked people in Sao Paolo what they thought that they should do. Hugo Franca, an artist, answered the city by saying that he would carve the trees into benches, furniture, and play equipment.
Now, the residents of Sao Paolo have some sustainable art furniture that they can use to sit, relax, talk and read.
Difficult words: strew-strewn (to be thrown about), equipment (structure for climbing on), sustainable (you can use it a lot and it will last).
You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
Do you like the idea to turn the trees into furniture?
