Man has a special operation – level 2
16-06-2015 15:00
An 18-year-old South African man was circumcised, but something went wrong. He was left with just one centimetre of his original penis.
The soldier had the world’s first penis transplant. The operation took nine hours. The team of experts needed to connect small blood vessels and nerves, so they used some techniques which were developed to perform the first face transplant.
The soldier is happy with his new penis and is not having any big problems. In fact, he is going to be a dad – his girlfriend got pregnant only four months after the operation.
Difficult words: circumcise (to cut off a small part of the end of the penis), transplant (when part of somebody’s body is put on someone else’s body), develop (to do something new).
You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
