Can a robot be a monk? In South Korea, it can! A small robot named Gabi has a big party at a temple. The monks give Gabi a special robe and a necklace.

The robot even learns how to put its hands together. It can pray. The temple makes Gabi a monk because they want young people to visit them. Many young people like robots and technology. The monks also give Gabi rules. Gabi must be kind to people and must not break things.

Next week, Gabi will walk in a big ceremony in the city of Seoul. It is a new way to celebrate Buddha’s birthday and show that technology and religion can work together.

Difficult words: monk (a religious man), temple (a building where people talk to god), necklace (a piece of jewelry around the neck).
