Indonesia stops a movie about Papua forests – level 1
01-06-2026 07:00
There is a new movie in Indonesia. Its name is Pestabby. It is a sad story about Papua. The government is cutting down big forests there. The government wants to make big fields for rice and sugar.
But these forests are home to local people. Their holy places are also there. The government does not like this movie. Soldiers go to schools and stop people from watching it. The filmmakers are afraid. Police are watching them.
The government also stops workers from other countries. They cannot go to Papua. But because the government wants to stop the movie, many people now want to see it. Now, all the tickets are gone very quickly.
Difficult words: government (people who officially control a country), local (the things or people in one area or place), holy (connected to God).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Why are tickets for Pestabby selling out very quickly?
