Sagrada Família and worried neighbors – level 1

29-04-2026 07:00

The Sagrada Família is a big church in Spain. It is very old and very tall. It is now the tallest church in the world. Many people visit the church every day.

They like the beautiful colors and the high towers. It is a very famous place for tourists from every country.

But there is a problem. The church needs more space for new stairs. To make this space, the city wants to take away some houses. The people who live there are worried. They love their homes. They do not want to move. They want to stay in their neighborhood with their friends.

Now, the city and the people are talking about the plan. It is a big change for the city of Barcelona. Some people want the tall church. Some people want the old houses. We do not know what will happen next. But we hope that every person can be happy and safe in their home.

Difficult words: church (a building for Christian people), tower (a tall building), neighborhood (an area of a town or city where people live).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What conflict has arisen between the city and the local residents over the church’s need for more space?
