Tourists can finally see the Parthenon – level 3
23-06-2026 07:00
Tourists visiting Athens are marveling at the Parthenon’s western pediment after restorers finally unveiled the ancient landmark. The temple is now visible in its most complete form in over 200 years.
For a long time, the iconic structure on top of the Acropolis was covered by heavy construction equipment, large metal frames, and scaffolding, which blocked the view for visitors. Now, with all the building materials finally removed, people can see the ancient monument from both close up and further away without any visual obstacles.
Visitors describe the newly uncovered temple as incredibly beautiful, special, and amazing. The complete view gives them a rare chance to see a little bit of how the historic building actually looked in the past. For many international travelers, seeing the clean, completed Acropolis fulfills a lifelong dream, with some even saying the majestic atmosphere makes it feel as though gods still live inside the building.
Difficult words: pediment (a large triangular part of a building in ancient Greek style, usually found above the entrance or columns), scaffolding (a temporary structure made of metal pipes and wooden boards for workers to stand on while fixing a building), obstacles (an object or a thing that is in your way and blocks you from moving forward or seeing something), majestic (very big, beautiful, and powerful in a way that makes people feel great respect).
