Cannabis legal in Germany – level 2
29-02-2024 07:00
Germany recently legalized cannabis. This allowed people and groups to grow their plants and keep limited amounts of cannabis.
People can grow up to three plants and possess up to 25 grams. Cannabis clubs with fewer than 500 members can also produce cannabis. The goal is to reduce the black market and protect young people.
Health Minister Karl Lauterbach defends the law, he says that more young people are using cannabis nowadays. Other people argue that legalizing cannabis will not stop drug dealing.
Difficult words: legalize (to make something legal), possess (to keep), defend (to support something what many people don’t like).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Do you agree that legalizing cannabis will effectively reduce the black market and protect young people? Why or why not?
