Many people wonder why we have hair on our heads. Do we need hair?

We have hair for important reasons. Hair keeps our brains safe. It keeps us warm in cold weather. It also helps to cool us down when it is too hot outside. Hair keeps UV rays away from our skin. UV rays are not healthy for our skin. Hair can be like whiskers to warn us of something dangerous.

In the past, hair probably helps people choose the right partner. These days it is not so important. But we have hats. They can do the same job as hair.

Difficult words: brain (the organ in our head which controls all body), ray (a narrow line in which light streams), whisker (a long hair which grows from the face of many animals).
