Rome’s new metro line – level 2

The new metro line under Rome’s famous places is difficult to build. The line will go under the Colosseum and other historical sites.
Chief engineer Andrea Sciotti says it is one of the hardest projects in the world, and it will cost 3 billion euros. The big station at Piazza Venezia will be ready by 2034. There will be an 85-meter wall.
The Metro C line project started almost 20 years ago. There were several issues which slowed it down. There were many old ruins underground, which experts needed to explore. Italy’s culture ministry helps with the project. Sciotti says new machines can dig under the old sites without damaging them.
When the project is ready, Metro C will go from the city center to the Vatican and will make traveling in Rome faster and easier.
