Burkina Faso crisis – level 1
13-06-2024 07:00
Over three million people leave their homes this year in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger. This is because of fighting and climate change.
In Burkina Faso, armed groups kill over 20,000 people. People in shelters need food, water, and medicine. World leaders do not care about the situation in Burkina Faso much. The government cannot stop the killing. Many people live in dangerous places.
There is little help for these problems in Africa. Burkina Faso has a military government since 2022. The leader wants to make the country safe and rich. But people do not believe that it will happen.
Difficult words: shelter (a safe place), military government (when soldiers rule a country).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What challenges are people in Burkina Faso facing due to the ongoing conflict and climate change, and how is the government attempting to address these issues?
