A planned attack at a Taylor Swift concert – level 2
14-08-2024 07:00
Police arrested a 19-year-old man in Austria for planning a suicide attack at a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna.
The man supported the Islamic State group and confessed that he wanted to kill many people. He planned to use bombs and knives. Because of this, organizers canceled all three concerts at the Ernst Happel Stadium. 195,000 fans bought tickets to these concerts. The man has North Macedonian roots. The police found chemicals in the man’s home, and they found out that he stole them from his old job.
The Austrian government is relieved that the attack didn’t happen. All fans will get their money back.
Difficult words: suicide attack (an attack when someone knows that he or she will die too, usually using a bomb), confessed (to admit doing something), roots (where a family comes from).
What did the police find in the man's home, and how did he acquire the chemicals?
