Tango World Championship – level 1
02-09-2024 15:00
The Tango World Championship is a big event in Argentina. Couples from many countries come to Buenos Aires to dance.
The event is two weeks long. There are music, dance lessons, and social dances called milongas. Tango starts in the 1800s near the River Plate between Argentina and Uruguay. Tango is important to their culture. Vanessa Giraldo and Jeison Ravagli come Colombia. They find it hard to save money to go, but they love Tango.
A Tango teacher says that the Tango embrace is about respect and strong feelings. Tango brings people together and is important in Buenos Aires.
Difficult words: social dance (a group or couple dance which you do for fun), culture (the ideas and customs of a group of people), embrace (holding someone tightly with both hands).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What do Vanessa Giraldo and Jeison Ravagli find challenging about attending the Tango World Championship?
