In response, tech companies are turning to nuclear power. Microsoft and Google have signed deals to power their AI data centers with nuclear energy.

Google, for example, plans to build seven small nuclear reactors by 2035. This is seen as a solution to the growing energy demands of AI, which is expected to require massive amounts of power. AI systems process enormous amounts of data to function, and this data processing is highly energy-intensive. The shift to nuclear power is part of a broader push for cleaner energy, as nuclear power is considered a more sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.
