AI needs nuclear energy – level 2

21-10-2024 07:00

AI is changing the world quickly, but it needs a lot of electricity.

Asking ChatGPT a question uses 30 times more power than a Google search. If everyone used AI, there would not be enough electricity to go around. To solve this problem, tech companies are turning to nuclear power. Microsoft and Google are both using nuclear reactors to power their AI data centers.

Google is planning to build seven nuclear reactors by 2035. This will help meet the energy demands of AI, which uses a lot of power to process large amounts of data. Experts expect AI to keep growing, so finding clean energy solutions like nuclear power is important.

Difficult words: nuclear reactor (a machine which makes energy by breaking atoms), demand (when people want something), process (to go through).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What solution are tech companies like Microsoft and Google implementing to meet the high energy demands of AI data centers?
