Lost Chopin waltz – level 1
04-11-2024 07:00
Robinson McClellan works at a New York museum. She finds a new piece of music. She thinks Chopin writes it.
McClellan asks a music expert Debbie Wiseman to help. Wiseman says that the piece is genuine. It is a short waltz. Chopin writes it between 1830 and 1835. It is very short. It has only 24 bars. It sounds just like Chopin’s other music. It has a beautiful melody and soft harmonies.
Wiseman thinks that Chopin writes it as a gift for a friend. Chopin often gives friends small music pieces. Wiseman loves this piece. She says that it is simple but lovely.
Difficult words: genuine (real), bar (a short section of a piece of music), harmony (sounds which have a pleasing effect).
What does music expert Debbie Wiseman think about the authenticity and quality of the short waltz found by Robinson McClellan, and what is her theory about why Chopin might have written it?
