China sends three astronauts to its space station, called Tiangong. In China, they call astronauts taikonauts.

The US is worried that China may take parts of the Moon. NASA’s leader says that the two countries are in a space race. It happens in the past, too. China plans to do many missions this year. Astronauts will bring rocks from the Moon. One of the three astronauts is China’s first woman space engineer. They will stay in space for six months to work on science projects and spacewalks.

China and the US both want to be strong in space. Many people believe that the two countries will compete in the future, too.

Difficult words: space race (when two countries want to get power in space), mission (a planned trip), compete (to try to be better than someone or something else).
