Qatar does not end the Israel-Gaza war

Qatar recently stopped working as a mediator in peace talks between Israel and Hamas because of slow progress.

The US also showed concern about Hamas’s office in Qatar. They said that it didn’t help talks because Hamas refused new peace offers. Qatar tried to bring Israel and Hamas closer to an agreement to stop the fighting. But after feeling that Hamas and Israel didn’t want to work together, Qatar decided it was best to stop.

Qatari officials said they might help again in the future, but only if both groups show more interest in reaching peace. Now, Egypt may be the mediator because it still has close connections with both sides.

Difficult words: mediator (someone who helps two sides to reach an agreement), concern (worry), refuse (to say no).
