Teotihuacan shooting – level 2
24-04-2026 15:00
A gunman killed a woman from Canada at a famous historic site in Mexico. The shooting happened at the Teotihuacan pyramids, a place many tourists love to visit.
The man hurt many other people, too. After the attack, the man killed himself. Police say he acted alone, and he was not part of a criminal group. They found papers in the man’s bag which talked about a school shooting in America many years ago. It seems the man wanted to copy that bad event.
The news is a big shock for everyone because the World Cup is starting in Mexico very soon. Many people feel afraid to travel to Mexico City now. The government will work hard to make the country safe. They hope that tourists will still want to visit the beautiful pyramids and enjoy their trip to Mexico.
Difficult words: gunman (a person who uses a gun to kill people), site (a place where people find old things from history), event (something important what happens).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What did the papers in the gunman’s bag reveal about his intentions?
