Children stop a bus – level 2
05-05-2026 15:00
Students in Mississippi saved their school bus and their driver on a busy highway. The driver had an asthma attack and fainted while driving 40 children home.
The bus started to move dangerously, but a 12-year-old boy took the wheel. Another student stepped on the brakes to stop the bus. It was a very scary moment, but the students stayed calm and worked together. While some students stopped the bus, others helped the driver. One girl called 911, and another used the driver’s medicine to help her breathe. They stopped the bus safely in the middle of the road.
The driver is now healthy and says the children saved her life. The school celebrated the students at a special event and promised them a fun trip to a restaurant.
Difficult words: asthma (a health problem when you cannot breathe well), faint (to suddenly fall asleep for a short time because you are sick or tired), breathe (to take air into your body and let it out again).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
After the driver fainted, what steps did the students take to bring the bus to a halt and help her breathe?
