The EU has new rules on immigrants – level 2

The European leaders voted to approve a new law to increase sending illegal immigrants away. The vote passed with 418 politicians in favor and 218 against.
After the vote, right-wing politicians celebrated and shouted ‚send them back‘ inside the government building. This made left-wing politicians very angry, and they shouted back ,shame on you.‘ The event showed that European leaders don’t agree on immigration. Some groups and experts strongly criticize the new rules. They say the plan is cruel because it allows the government to lock up people for two years or send them to faraway centers.
Right-wing leaders are happy and say they are showing their power. Other politicians say this reaction is bad and makes people hate each other more.
Difficult words: approve (to accept a plan, law, or idea officially), in favor (to support or agree with an idea or law in a vote), cruel (very unkind and hurting others).
