A man rescued from frozen Michigan lake – level 2
25-01-2024 07:00
A 65-year-old man fell through the ice on Arbutus Lake in Michigan, the United States. He was in a dangerous situation until police officer Kammeron Bennetts intervened.
Bennets used his quick thinking and he employed the man’s dog. Ruby, the dog, brought rescue equipment. Bennets captured the rescue on his body camera. The video shows him trying a rescue disc throw, failing, and then instructing the man to send Ruby to him. After securing the disc to Ruby’s collar, Bennetts guided the man to safety by pulling him onto the icy surface.
Thanks to the collaboration the man is now safe.
Difficult words: intervene (to step in to change the situation or its result), collar (a band around the neck of an animal), collaboration (working with others to achieve something).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What actions did officer Kammeron Bennetts take to successfully rescue the 65-year-old man who fell through ice on Arbutus Lake?
