A warehouse makes people angry – level 2

19-02-2024 15:00

Residents of Hooke Close in Corby, Northamptonshire, UK, are angry. The council made a mistake and it approved the building of an 18-meter-high warehouse just behind their homes.

The council spoke to residents of Hubble Road instead, which is a few hundred meters away. Workers are building the warehouse on the former Weetabix factory site, and it is causing noise and vibrations. It has an impact on residents’ daily lives. They worry about sunlight obstruction and property devaluation.

The council apologized for its mistake, but the construction continues. Residents demand solutions, including the removal of the warehouse.

Difficult words: warehouse (a large building for storing materials and products), obstruction (something what blocks a road, entrance, energy, and so on), devaluation (reducing the value of something).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
